I was amazed by the graphical performances made in the King Kong movie by Peter Jackson. The emotion that has been put in the animals eyes and mouth expression is amazing. I wanted to recreate a picture of the kong for the wall. When i started painted on the wall and my sketch was done i felt unsatisfied untill i made the eyes. Its always important to focus on good eyes. All the rest of the body and head expressions will be ruined if the eyes are not emotionaly and anatomicly wrong. Keep making the lighting just like in your original photograph.
Although the sketching part is also hard for me it always gets to a point where i am 60 % satisfied and from that i no i can't go wrong anymore and you can start to focus on detailling out every fine aspect. That is the fun part, cause you can try to master the original and keep getting the precentage to 80% or so. You will never get fully statisfied cause there is no such thing as perfection for an artist i think. We always have something that could have been better. It is often that other people have to give their opinion before you see some of your own mistakes.This helps to perfect is, as far as perfection goes in a inperfect world.
Taking Good Pictures
Always important to do, is taking good pictures of your projects, cause there are only a few pictures that are actually useable.
